THE DAILY CRUNCH
TUESDAY, MARCH 6 2018 By Darrell Etherington

Lots of money for bot workers, Uber's also making automation moves and Amazon wants to put Whole Foods in your home everywhere eventually. All that and more in The Daily Crunch for March 6, 2018.

1. UiPath raised $153 million and gains unicorn status

Romanian robotic automation software startup UiPath has raised $153 million from Accel, CapitalG and KP for so-called "software robots" which is like a whole lot of money.

The picture from this article doesn't really tell me much about what they do, so I read on – they automate a lot of back-office tasks for companies including BMW, Dentsu and Huawei to name a few.

2. Uber's autonomous trucks are doing customer cargo runs

OMG the trucks, they're already driving themselves! Well, sort of – in Arizona at least. For highway long haul stretches. With a safety driver present. But it's progress!

3. Amazon brings Whole Foods deliveries to Atlanta

Amazon continues to expand its web of Whole Foods deliveries to new cities. This time it's Atlanta. That web is a web of laziness, by the way – just go to the grocery store it's probably the only time you leave your house.

4. MIT is taking another look at that low pay Uber study

Uber's CEO had harsh words for a recent MIT study that pegged Uber driver average income at a ridiculously low rate. Sometimes a CEO lashing out on social media can be a good thing.

5. Honda's actually gonna make this cute little car with bench seating

This is my ideal car. If Honda brought back the Element that'd probably top it but that's it.

6. The Volkswagen I.D. Vizzion is the automaker's next planned EV concept

Volkswagen's I.D. line is weirdly named but generally attractive and very forward thinking. This one looks like the one with the most mass appeal of the current set.

7. The new vacuum is a cordless wonder

Dyson's latest vacuum is a technological marvel that can deliver great suction for 60 minutes via a built-in battery. This company's car better have record-breaking range, too, whenever it breaks cover.
