THE DAILY CRUNCH
MONDAY, MARCH 26 2018 By Darrell Etherington

Uber is selling its Southeast Asia business to a big rival, Facebook is focusing on local and Nvidia is all-in on AI. All that and more in The Daily Crunch for March 26, 2018.

1. Uber sells Southeast Asia business to Grab

Uber is mirroring its China playbook in Southeast Asia: Selling its business in the region to a strong local rival in exchange for a stake.

It's the smart move to continue to get Uber into fiscal fighting shape for an IPO next year, and Uber gets over a quarter stake in Grab as a result. Win-win.

2. Facebook puts emphasis on local news everywhere

Globally, Facebook is now emphasizing local news. At the global level. Local. Global. It makes sense just don't think about it too much and read the piece.

3. Nvidia's AI future resolves further

Nvidia is in the AI business, now more than ever. Expect that to become readily apparent this week at GTC, the company's annual GPU Technology Conference in San Jose. I'll be there, and it'll be a great opportunity to see what people are building with Nvidia's tech.

4. Fitbit's Versa is a better Fitbit smartwatch

Fitbit's back with another smartwatch, the Versa. It's the second attempt after the mostly failed Ionic, and it's better in almost every way. But is it better enough?

5. Tesla's new navigation system is coming soon

Tesla has a bad navigation system, by most accounts. A new version is rolling out starting this weekend, however, so that could improve things.

6. The Boring Co. is selling stone Lego blocks next

Elon Musk's tunnel boring company mostly sells merch, and now it's going to sell "lifesize" stone Lego. Huh.

7. Apple's targeting next March for original programming debut

Yes, next March is when Apple wants to start airing all those shows it's been buying up. Mark your calendars.
