Is the LG G-Slate landing in the UK? Posted: 23 Jan 2011 03:00 AM PST Posted by Devina Divecha on Sun 23 Jan 2011 Hints dropped, with no confirmation on when and where the UK release announcement will be made. The LG G-Slate was already heading stateside, but UK customers were waiting on when they might see it too. However, a UK release is being hinted at. In an interview with Pocket-Lint, the marketing strategy and planning team director of LG, James Choi was asked whether Blighty would see the LG G-Slate. Choi said, "That information isn’t available yet. The first announcement was for the Americas. We are planning another announcement pretty soon." He was then asked about the fact that the device is a 4G (and UK doesn't have a 4G network). Choi told Pocket-Lint (before being cut off by his PR), "I’ll put it to you this way, even if the 4G version isn’t in the UK..." It could possibly mean an announcement might be made at the Mobile World Congress. The LG G-Slate is powered with Android 3.0 Honeycomb, with a 10.1-inch screen. Not many more spec details are available. When do you think the G-Slate UK release will be announced? British woman wins $10000 iTunes card with Paper Glider Posted: 23 Jan 2011 01:35 AM PST Posted by Devina Divecha on Sun 23 Jan 2011 The winner of the 10 billion App Store prize has been announced Yesterday, T3 reported on Apple App Store's landmark of having their 10 billionth app being downloaded. But there was no word on who had won the $10,000 (£6249) iTunes gift card. And we're pleased to report, someone from Blighty has won it. Apple has announced that a mother from Kent, whose daughters purchased the Paper Glider game from the online store, won the prize. Paper Glider by Neon Play is a free gaming app that allows players to see how far they can fly a paper plane. Gail Davis told BBC Radio 5 Live, "I have to confess it wasn't me who downloaded it but my daughters." She initially thought it was a prank and declined to take the phone call. She said, "I had that moment of blind panic but Apple kindly phoned me back and said I was a winner." Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, said, "With more than 10 billion apps downloaded in just two and a half years, a staggering seven billion apps in the last year alone, the App Store has surpassed our wildest dreams." Apart from the Apple App store for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, the Apple Mac App Store has also broken barriers of sorts after crossing 1 million app downloads on its opening day. Add to the number of apps being downloaded from the App Store and buy T3's February 2011 iPad edition.
