Sega Racing Studio makes a comeback

Posted: 19 Jun 2011 06:00 AM PDT

Three years later, Sega racing studio returns.

Sega has announced the opening of a new studio in Solihull, meant to be dedicated to development of next-generation platforms.

The reports are that the studio is working on a title for the PlayStation Vita.

Production head, Gary Dunn said: "It’s going to be a PS Vita game that absolutely uses many features of the hardware to the max, and gives you some truly innovative gaming opportunities not seen before," according to Develop.

Dunn said the team members are veterans from the Sega Racing Studio that was sold to Codemasters in 2008. The newly opened studio hopes to stay a smaller outfit, with 15 staff members.

Rumours about Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo crop up

Posted: 19 Jun 2011 04:30 AM PDT

It's the time of the rumour mill again.

A picture that is supposed to be of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo has surfaced on a Chinese website, IT168.

The Duo was one of the names trademarked at the end of 2010 by Sony Ericsson but is, as yet, unannounced.

The smartphone, when announced, is expected to be the first Sony Ericsson Android phone with a dual-core processor.

The photo shows a smartphone with an almost edge-to-edge display, three buttons at the bottom of the device. The Xperia brand logo is on the handset, along with the Sony Ericsson and Duo logos that indicate it might be the real deal.

But with no confirmation other than a blurry picture, we can't say for sure.

What do you think - is it the real Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo. Weigh in via T3's Twitter and Facebook feeds and stay tuned in for more updates.

US builds model of internet to test cyber war scenarios

Posted: 19 Jun 2011 02:30 AM PDT

Internet model in the works

The US is working on a scale model of the internet to test cyber war ops.

The project worth millions of dollars is going to be a 'virtual firing range' where they can simulate cyber attacks and so create systems to protect against them.

This allows tests to be carried out quickly, without loss of time.

The system has been commissioned by the Defense Advance Research Projects Agency, and will also allow the US to test its defenses without affecting the real world.

The US will be able to carry out test operations "in days rather than the weeks it currently takes," according to Eric Mazzacone, a DARPA spokesman.

The project is currently in the conception stage. The US recently put aside $500m (£309m) of its defense budget to develop "cyber technologies," with cyber-attacks now considered an act of war.
