Welcome to your nightly round-up of the day's news and goings on courtesy of T3.com. New reports today indicate that HP is set to unveil a 7-inch version of its TouchPad tablet, just weeks after the original 9.7 inch model becomes available in the UK in August. Also shortly incoming could be the new MacBook Air as retailer Best Buy declared the current MacBook Air out of stock.

HTC announced today that the hotly anticipated HTC EVO 3D will arrive in Britain in July. By September however it may have plenty of competition as both Apple and Samsung are set to release new handsets. Samsung is expected to release an updated Galaxy S II, whilst reports suggest that Apple will come armed not only with the iPhone 5 but with a mid-range pay-as-you-go iPhone 4S in addition.
Zumba Fitness has risen back to the top of the gaming charts after a 33 percent rise in sales saw it coast past L.A. Noire and F.E.A.R. 3. Elsewhere in gaming news, our poll on which next-gen games platform excites you the most saw you vote overwhelming against Nintendo’s Wii U, which received less than 10 percent of the votes.

iPhone 5 release to see Apple launch second entry iPhone Posted: 27 Jun 2011 08:33 AM PDT
Apple is set to enter the mid-range smartphone market launching an iPhone 4S PAYG device in September alongside the radically redesigned iPhone 5 Apple will launch two new iPhone handsets at its expected September unveiling with the radically redesigned iPhone 5 to be joined by a cheaper pay-as-you-go iPhone 4S or iPhone Nano device, Wall Street industry analysts have claimed.
In a note to investors today Chris Whitmore, an analyst with Deutsche Bank, suggested Apple was to release two new iPhone devices in September stating: "With Nokia and RIM struggling the time is right for Apple to aggressively penetrate the mid-range smartphone market (i.e. $300-500 category) to dramatically expand its [total addressable market] and market share."
Opening up the iPhone brand to a new level of consumer, the introduction of an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 4S would see the Cupertino tech giant actively target Google’s Android operating system that has become successful across a broad range of devices from entry-level handsets to premium smartphones.
With a lower priced iPhone handset targeting midrange PAYG customers, Apple could also see sales of applications from the iTunes App Store sore as millions of new users adopt the market dominating breed of handsets and look to fully utilise their potential.
Will Apple launch a midrange iPhone 4S alongside the iPhone 5 this September? Let us know what you think via the T3 Twitter and Facebook feeds.

Android app news: Cut the Rope makes Android debut Posted: 27 Jun 2011 08:21 AM PDT
Lovable monster Om Nom jumps over the Apple/Android divide Android owners can finally get their hands on one of the cutest-yet-most-addictive games iOS has ever offered, following the launch of Cut The Rope.
Cut The Rope sees the lovable, candy-hungry monster Om Non bring his quest for sweeties to Android, with the title available to download exclusively from the GetJar app store. It's ad-supported and hence free to download.
For those unfamiliar with this multi-award-winning application, the idea is to drop the candy directly into the mouth of Om Nom by cutting the strings that prevent his lazy rear-end from getting it himself.
Cut The Rope is the latest iPhone classic to finally make its way over to the Android platform. In recent months we've seen the likes of Plants vs Zombies and Fruit Ninja.
Most of these titles have been exclusive to the new Amazon Appstore, but GetJar has stolen a march on this one.

Samsung is expected to upgrade its Samsung Galaxy S II handset this September with a 1.4GHz dual-core processor to land at IFA Samsung is to upgrade its market leading smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S II, with the ultra-thin handset to see its processor upped to a 1.4GHz dual-core offering in September, new reports suggest.
Launched with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor earlier this year, upgraded pre-release from the 1GHz dual-core CPU touted at the handset’s first unveiling at Mobile World Congress, the Samsung Galaxy S II has become the UK’s number one handset sporting a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display and Google’s Android operating system.
Reasoned to be as a counter to the expected Apple iPhone 5, it has been reported that the refreshed Galaxy S II will maintain its 8-megapixel camera with 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities, 1GB of RAM and lightweight minimalist form factor.

Sony PS4 better than Xbox 720, Wii U, say T3 readers Posted: 27 Jun 2011 06:37 AM PDT
We asked and you answered: Here's the results from last week's poll... Following rumours that both Sony and Microsoft have new consoles in the works, and the unveiling of Nintendo’s Wii U at E3 earlier this month, we might be on the brink of a next-gen console arms race. In the opening battle, Sony’s ‘Playstation 4’ has come out victorious with nearly 50% of votes from you, the T3 readers. The lack of information surrounding the plans of Sony and Microsoft make their potential new products infinitely more enticing, perhaps more so than Nintendo’s offering. But Nintendo’s press conference at E3 certainly received a positive response and Ninty’s new console promises a great deal, not least the inevitable return of popular franchises such as The Legend of Zelda, Mario and Super Smash Brothers.
