VTech InnoPad brings tablet learning to kids

Posted: 13 Feb 2011 04:23 AM PST

Super-budget kids tablet coming this Autumn.

Ok, it's unlikely to draw much boardroom envy when stood next to the iPad or the Samsung Galaxy Tab, but if ever a sign were needed that the tablet has hit the mainstream, it's a tablet that's aimed exclusively at the nippers.

The VTech InnoPad is aimed at tykes between the ages of four and nine, which explains the hardy-looking plastic shell around the screen, and comes with a five-inch colour touchscreen, an SD card slot, a USB port, accelerometer and headphone jack for listening to the inbuilt MP3 player.

The tablet takes content from removeable cartridges and via the USB connection, and will boast a slew of interactive, learning-based games. It's set to ship in the States this Autumn for the pocket money-low price of $79.99. And to think we were happy with our Hot Wheels and toy trains.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 confirmed with images

Posted: 13 Feb 2011 03:32 AM PST

Samsung release photos of Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Tab 2.

Following the leak of the Samsung Galaxy S2 specs yesterday (courtesy of a certain UK mobile phone retailer), Samsung has thrown caution to the wind and offered up a handful of official shots of both the phone and the Galaxy Tab 2 - confirming both their presence at CES and at least some of the specs.

The leaked specifications for the Galaxy S2 we saw yesterday were, it seems, spot on. As for the Galaxy Tab 2, that comes packing a 10.1" display with a 1280x800 resolution, an 8MP camera with HD video recording, surround sound speakers and Google's latest Android OS, 3.0 Honeycomb.

And if we say so ourselves, the Tab 2 is also a bit of a looker. Click here to launch our photo gallery.

LG Optimus 3D details revealed

Posted: 13 Feb 2011 02:29 AM PST

LG's new 3D blower looking like a must-have for media fans.

With just a day to go until it all kicks off at Mobile World Congress 2011, LG have given us a little taster of what to expect from its much-anticipated Optimus 3D in a press release.

According to the release, the Optimus 3D "packs exceptional features with performance in mind" - including, a 1GHz dual core processor, which is looking to be a staple of handsets on display at MWC. Also present is a dual-lens camera for recording 3D video, HDMI, DLNA and that glasses-free 3D display.

But all the 3D bumf aside, one thing that's got us really excited is the claim that the Optimus 3D will come with a whopping four times as many video codecs than any of its current competitors. Will this finally be the phone to put an end to our marathon video converting sessions? Expect answers in the coming days.
