Warner Brothers studios has come up with the marvelous idea of launching free iOS apps for The Dark Knight and Inception. Broadband is the most loved innovation of the decade

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 03:42 AM PST

Finding out what we think of the last decade's innovations

According to the British people, broadband is the innovation that has made the most positive impact on their lives over the last 10 years.

The Foundation, a consultancy firm, undertook the survey of over 2000 people, who were asked which products and services they loved and hated since the turn of the millennium.

Broadband and online shopping came first and second as being the technological innovations that contributed most to people's lives over the last decade. Google was third. Chip and pin technology came fourth, with digital cameras rounding off the fifth spot.

When asked to cite reasons for their choices, most said usefulness and ability to save time were paramount factors. Surprisingly cost didn't seem to be of much importance as compared to these two reasons.

As far as things that British people hated, reality television trumped in this list. Facebook, pop-up ads and Twitter were next in line. Paid-for plastic bags and public bike schemes also figured in the list. Reasons for including items in the list were that these items caused irritation and time wasting.

Charlie Dawson, partner at The Foundation, said: "It’s a reminder of how useful broadband has become for most people in the UK. Perhaps this explains why 71% of UK households have broadband despite it being an extra cost that no one had to pay before it existed."

What innovations have you loved and hated over the last decade? T3 wants to know, so pop over to our Twitter and Facebook feeds (no matter how much you may hate using those sites) and let us know. Stay tuned in for more tech news.

Angry Birds set to land on Windows Phone 7

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 02:31 AM PST

Angry Birds is flying just about everywhere.

The popular and addictive game Angry Birds looks set to fly into Windows Phone 7 handsets soon, as well as in 3D.

Rovio Mobile, who is behind Angry Birds, has already released it for the iPhone, iPad and Android devices, with Angry Birds 2 in the works already.

In an interview with Pocket-Lint, Peter Vesterbacka, CEO of Rovio (or the Mighty Eagle as he's known) revealed a bit more about their WP7 and 3D plans.

When asked if Angry Birds would be available on Windows Phone 7, he said they were working on it, and hinted towards the launch being held up due to Microsoft. All Vesterbacka said was, "Let’s just say, Microsoft has a lot of lawyers."

It's hard to imagine why the launch would be delayed, seeing how Angry Birds has received unprecedented success on other platforms, leading to spinoffs for seasons and holidays (example, Angry Birds Hallowe'en and Angry Birds Christmas).

As of now, we're in the dark about the release date and price for Angry Birds on WP7 devices. Those using Android devices can get it for free (with ads).

He also confirmed Angry Birds in 3D format but did not reveal anything else, such as when we could get our hands on the 3D version and what device it will be launched on. But as we know, Angry Birds is confirmed for a Nintendo 3DS release, so that's definitely one of the platforms we should be seeing the game on.

Are you an Angry Birds supporter or have you still not been sucked into its addictive gameplay? Let us know over at T3's Twitter and Facebook feeds and follow us to get more app and techie news.
