Shift 2 Unleashed gets Pagani Huayra; delayed to April 1

Posted: 20 Feb 2011 05:00 AM PST

Car enthusiasts may be happy about supercar inclusion, gamers may be peeved about delay.

EA's Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed will now feature the Pagani Huayra. It also has had its release date pushed by a week to April 1 instead of March 25.

The V12 supercar runs on 700bhp and accelerates from 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. Shift 2 Unleashed is where gamers will be able to test it for the first time (unless of course you can afford to buy the real deal).

Horacio Pagani, founder of Pagani Automobili S.p.A. said, "For the past seven years, the designing of the Huayra has been a labour of love and I'm ecstatic to be working with the entire Need for Speed team to help share our creation with the world. I'm amazed by how accurately they have been able to capture the look and, most importantly, the feel of the Huayra. Shift 2 Unleashed will give enthusiasts all over the world the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Huayra."

Shift 2 Unleashed is set to release on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC platforms. The release date for Europe will be April 1.

Twitter suspends UberTwitter and twidroyd

Posted: 20 Feb 2011 03:58 AM PST

What are the Twitter addicts going to use now?

Twitter clients, UberTwitter, UberCurrent and twidroyd, have been suspended by Twitter for policy violations.

In an official blog post, Twitter says they are announcing their move as, in this case, the suspension may affect a large number of users. It said, "We have suspended UberTwitter and twidroyd for violating our policies."

It also adds that users can consider downloading the official Twitter for BlackBerry, Twitter for Android and other official apps, as well as using their mobile website, apart from other third-party developers that are considered in line with Twitter's policies.

UberMedia is the owner of UberTwitter, UberCurrent and twidroyd. Techies will remember UberMedia recently acquired UK-based Tweetdeck into its portfolio.

Twidroyd's official Twitter account has said that a new version of the client which will resolve the issues of the ban will soon be released (that tweet was made on the web client incidentally).

Bill Gross, founder and CEO of UberMedia has said (on Quora) that they have removed the tweet-elongation service named tmi.me (which allows users to write more than Twitter's 140-character limit) at Twitter's request, and have officially changed their name to UberSocial. With regard to UberCurrent (a Twitter app for iPhones), Gross said, "Twitter said that in UberCurrent we change links that are part of an affiliate program to be our own links.  We don’t currently do this, but we removed all changing of links to eliminate any possibility of this."

According to him, they are now waiting for the apps to be restored.

Mozilla updates F1 messaging for sharing on social networks

Posted: 20 Feb 2011 03:02 AM PST

Sharing got a whole lot easier

Mozilla has launched an updated version of F1 Messaging, a browsing extension that makes it easier to share links.

The F1 Messaging service gives users a one-stop service to share links across social networks, and has now been upgraded with support for more services, service-specific features and a new UI.

The previous horizontal look has been replaced with a vertical layout.

Apart from Twitter and Facebook, LinkedIn, Gmail, Google Apps and Yahoo are services supported by the updated F1. It can now be used to send direct messages to other Twitter users as well sharing links on Facebook group walls. Google Apps and Gmail will now include a thumbnail of the shared link.

The update will only work on Firefox 4 Beta as the developers say the upgraded F1 service uses technology in its new UI only available in Firefox 4.

What service do you normally use to share links with your friends? Tell us at our Twitter and Facebook feeds and follow us for the latest news in the world of tech.
