Tech Week: Apple mayhem & PlayStationNetwork failure

Yet another busy week in tech has passed us by, here are our highlights from the past seven days, enjoy.

 

 

 

News of the Week

A Phones4U representative sent the iPhone 5 rumours into frenzy as they said that the next-generation model would hit stores on November 21st. Apple secured deals with EMI and Warner Music ahead of the launch of their iCloud streaming service, which is rapidly approaching.

 

Amazon has been buoyed by the success of the Kindle, which has seen eBook sales surpass that of the paper and hardback equivalents according to figures from the online retailer.

 

The PlayStationNetwork’s troubles continued as Sony had to take down the service hours after making it available to users; supporting Japan’s refusal to allow PSN back online.

 

App domination has arrived after it was discovered that 1/3 of us start up an application before pulling ourselves out of bed, whilst Angry Birds has been downloaded 200 million times. Meanwhile, Apple’s iOS announces five million game downloads per day.

Features of the Week

 

L.A Noire is poised to take the gaming industry into the future, if the consoles can cope with the demands of the game, with the games’ secrets revealed in our feature on Rockstar’s latest edition to the gaming community.  

 

The future of tech has been questioned this week as the likelihood of invisibility cloaks, teleportation and holodeck simulations are all examined.

 

With the iPhone 5 release date being pushed further back we’ve taken a look at the best smartphones available today.

Reviews of the Week

 

A first look at the HTC Flyer is included in our reviews this week as we examine the tablet that HTC hope will challenge the iPad 2.

 

The development of the iOS vs Android/Windows 7 battle is key to the future of tech, prompting a debate amongst us at T3 as to who currently holds the advantage.
