World's most efficient electric car revealed Posted: 03 Jul 2011 05:08 AM PDT Posted by Richard Wordsworth on Sun 3 Jul 2011 Super green eco-car revealed at London event. The choice of truly green vehicles environmentalists have at their disposal just got a little wider, with the announcement of the the T.27, the so-called "world's most efficient electric car". As you might expect with such a title, there's not a lot of room in the T.27 for the shopping; it's a dinky three-seat affair about the same size as a Smart Car. Powered by a 25kW electric motor, it's not going to be bagging any Gumball trophies either, with a top speed of 105kph and a 0-100kph time of less than 15 seconds. However, as a chariot for the eco warrior, creators Gordon Murray Design are claiming it's on top of its game; the T.27's competitors reportedly use between 29% (the Smart EV) and 86% (the Mini-E) more electricity per mile than the T.27 to keep them humming along. Gordon Murray claim the key to keeping the car green is in the weight. "Lightweight is the most powerful tool we have in our amoury in the fight against emissions and fuel consumption", says the actual Gordon Murray, CEO of Gordon Murray Design. "A lightweight car means a lightweight battery, increasing the levels of safety and reducing the retail price dramatically." Environmentally-minded readers impressed by the T.27 have only until November to wait to see the T.27 in action on public roads, when it will be competing in the RAC Future Car Challenge, a drive from Brighton to London. Cut the Rope lands on the Android Market Posted: 03 Jul 2011 04:01 AM PDT Posted by Richard Wordsworth on Sun 3 Jul 2011 T3 mobile favourite finally gets proper launch on Android. Cut the Rope, one of the privileged few mobile games to win five T3 stars of approval on the App Chart, has officially landed on the Android Market and the Amazon Appstore. The game sees players slicing ropes, avoiding spike traps and dodging hungry spiders as they try to reunite sweeties with the ever-hungry Om Nom, a loveable little monster who sits patiently waiting for his delivery of candy. Cut the Rope had a half-hearted release last week for Android via the GetJar app store as a free, ad-supported download. The Android Market release is more in line with the Apple App Store version - ad-free but with a download price of 62p. Want to know more? Facebook and Skype to launch video chat service Posted: 03 Jul 2011 03:10 AM PDT Posted by Richard Wordsworth on Sun 3 Jul 2011 Desktop video chat service to take on Google+? Rumours are hotting up that Facebook is getting ready to announce a video chat service powered by Skype. Details of how the service will work are sketchy, but it's thought the Facebook/Skype project will include a desktop component, after Facebook's Seattle offices started interviewing for a new desktop software division. The service will reportedly be launched at an invite only event at the Facebook offices in Palo Alto, California, on Wednesday July 6th. The invites, an example of which you can see top right, don't explicitly confirm a video chat service, but feature a new message icon that we and the rest of the interweb reckon adds some proper weight to the speculation. If true, then the video chat service will be announced just days after the Google+ advert which showed integrated video chat to be a key component of the would-be Facebook competitor (video below).
