Student sells spot in iPad 2 queue for $900 Posted: 13 Mar 2011 06:14 AM PDT Posted by Richard Wordsworth on Sun 13 Mar 2011 Apple launches have a tendancy to bring out the crazy in some folks, with Apple fans camping out Bear Grylls-style overnight in front of Apple Stores worldwide just for the honour of laying first hands upon the latest iDevice. But what if you're of a mind to both avoid the queues AND get the first go on Apple's latest touchscreen toy? With pre-orders in the States reportedly backed up by two or three weeks, one intrepid Apple fan, app developer Hazem Sayed, went all Gordon Gecko and turned to bribery. US college student Amanda Foote sold her place near the front of the Apple Store queue to Mr. Sayed for an eye-watering $900 - iPad not included. Sayed was reportedly leaving on a business trip that evening, and darn it just didn't have the time to wait in line. Ms. Foote had apparently joined the line with the express intention of selling her spot, and had endured 40 hours of rain-soaked queueing, in which time she managed to wrangle just over three hours of sleep. Foote's $900 has apparently been ear-marked for Lady Gaga tickets, although with the 64GB 3G iPad going for just $829 dollars in the States, we're not sure we wouldn't have just joined the queue again at the back and let a stranger pick up the tab (no pun intended). Apple iPad 2 suffers from yellow screen tint? Posted: 13 Mar 2011 05:28 AM PDT Posted by Richard Wordsworth on Sun 13 Mar 2011 Un-set glue causing iPhone 4-style screen problems for iPad 2 users? Just two days since Apple Stores across the States were ringed with customers clamouring for the latest Apple wunder-tablet, and already some early iPad 2 adopters are crying foul. The cause of the iPad ire is a yellow tint that has appeared on several devices around the edge of the 9.7-inch touchscreen. If that sounds familiar, it's because Apple faced an identical problem with a number of its iPhone 4 handsets when the phone launched last summer. The yellow tinting is reportedly caused by the glue Apple use to hold their iDevices' screens in place, a problem which also causes light to leak onto the screen from around the bezel. Happily, if indeed it is the same problem as with the iPhone 4, both problems fade with time, reportedly as the glue sets. Screen discolouration aside, the iPad 2 has been selling like hotcakes in the US since its release on Friday, with Apple fans literally queueing around the block and Apple Stores across the country running out of stock. UK customers have just under two weeks to wait until the March 25th launch - fingers crossed we'll have a verdict on this iffy screen problem by then. Thinking of picking up an iPad 2 come March 25th? Read our full iPad 2 review for the T3 team verdict, or watch our video hands-on below. Source: T3 tech videos

With just two weeks to go before its launch in the UK, Nintendo's glasses-free 3D gaming handheld, the Nintendo 3DS, has had another snip made to its not-inconsiderable £230 asking price. The 3DS, which goes on sale in the UK on March 25th, is available for the currently rock bottom price of £187 from Morrisons (for pre-order), undercutting Amazon.co.uk by a tenner. In return, Morrisons are asking for a £10 deposit, and giving early bird 3DS customers until March 31st to pick up their new handhelds. The Nintendo 3DS uses special parallax technology to create a 3D image without the need for 3D glasses.
