Gran Turismo 5 price-slashing (well, kind of) continued today with Blockbuster pricing GT5 at just 99p. Of course, you will have to be willing to sacrifice some pretty recent games. There’s big news from Nintendo as they announce they will be making an appearance at CES 2011 for the first time in 16 years, with speculation that the 3DS and possibly the Wii 2 will be the main attraction at January's Vegas tech showcase.
- Win a Sony PS3 and T3's top 25 games to buy for Christmas
The Google Nexus S plot thickens once again as spy shots of the next Nexus One were captured with a launch looking likely for 2011. Angry Birds fans will be happy to hear that developers Rovio have confirmed Angry Birds 2 which will also appear on consoles and as a Facebook app, so no one misses out on the catapulting action.
So what’s the best way to sell a smartphone? A lavish event perhaps? Posters plastered on every free wall? Well, you could just take a leaf out of LG's book as they made model Kelly Brook the face of the Optimus One. Well it got our attention?

Gran Turismo 5 price: Cheapest deals in the UK Posted: 23 Nov 2010 09:55 AM PST Gran Turismo 5 prices are wide and varied but who has the best offer? With Gran Turismo 5 set to hit stores across the UK on Wednesday, November 24th, the pricing wars that have only just subsided following the arrival of Call of Duty: Black Ops are striking back up with renewed ferocity.
Here is a breakdown of the best deals and who’s charging what for the long awaited and repeatedly delayed racing sim to end all racing sims, the 3D touting, graphical majestic GT5.
Gamers tempted away from their trusty Xbox 360’s by Gran Turismo 5 can pick up possibly one of the best GT5 deals over at Play.com and ShopTo.Net where the online retailers are offering up a budget priced bumper bundle deal. For a very reasonable £274.99 and £269.85 respectively, Sony console adopters can pick themselves up a PS3 Slim with a 320GB HDD and a copy of the Gran Turismo 5 Collector’s Edition. Featuring a copy of the game in Collector’s Edition packaging, this special edition comes equipped with a commemorative slip case and inlay sleeve art, a 200+ page drivers guide, five Collector’s Edition artcards, five CE ‘ChromeLine’ vehicles and an exclusive Polyphony designed dynamic theme.
Whilst Blockbuster has stollen headlines but not gamer's hearts with its 99p offering of GT5, as long as customers trade in two of the latest and biggest releases such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, Asda has a more reasonable trade-in offer with Gran Turismo 5 going for £7.47 with a single game trade.
Leading the online charge for the release of Gran Turismo 5 at present are retailers BestBuy which is offering GT5 for £29.99 with no catches, required trade-ins or conditions.
Stay tuned to T3.com for all the latest Gran Turismo 5 prices as and when they are revealed. Have you seen a better deal for GT5? Let us know via the T3 Twitter and Facebook feeds. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Acer Iconia dual-screen tablet announced with Windows 7 Posted: 23 Nov 2010 08:48 AM PST Acer and Microsoft announce 14-inch dual-screen tablet Acer, in close collaboration with Microsoft has today officially unveiled the Acer Iconia, a dual-screen tablet device set to launch in January running the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.
With dual 14-inch screens and weighing in at 2.8kg, the Iconia is no standard tablet, more a tablet, laptop hybrid with either screen being able to act as a virtual, touchscreen keyboard standing in for the lack of a physical option.
On the thrills front the new Acer Iconia features an inbuilt 1.3-megapixel camera and two 720p WXGA screens ideal for video playback. The Iconia’s downfall, however, could come in the form of its puny four-cell battery capable of powering the Windows 7 run device for just three hours of full use.
Set to launch in the UK on January 15th, the 14-inch Acer Iconia will set wannabe owners back a hefty £1,500. Acer has also announced that smaller 10, 7, and 5-inch models of its dual-screen tablet concept will be available in the near future.

Sony Reader app to land on Android and iOS in 2010 Posted: 23 Nov 2010 07:18 AM PST Reader app to bring Sony ebooks to smartphones before Christmas. With Sony's Reader devices hardly flying off the shelves amid stiff competition from the Amazon Kindle and the Apple iPad, Sony is taking a new approach by preparing a Reader app for Android and iPhone.
The Reader app, which will join the Kindle, and numerous other apps on Google and iOS powered smartphones, should be available as a free download from the App Store and the Android Market within the next month.
Reader will offer full access to purchase books from Sony's digital library and current owners of Sony Readers (both of you), will be able to sync books across the two devices.
Like the Kindle app for iPhone, iPad and Android it'll display books and publications in full colour and there's also rumblings that you'l be able to change the background colour of what you're reading. Downloaders will also be able to bookmark and annotate their purchases from within the app.
Sony Reader for iPhone, iPad and Android is expected to become available before the close of 2010.

Kelly Brook becomes the face of the LG Optimus One Posted: 23 Nov 2010 04:34 AM PST Model Brook promotes LG Optimus One in fine style Having announced last week that it has sold one million Optimus One handsets LG is back promoting the budget Android blower as model Kelly Brook becomes the face of the LG device.
Whilst using one of the most attractive and unobtainable women in the world to promote an affordable and accessible low-end smartphone might not be the best use of LG’s common sense factor, we at T3 are pleased with the announcement and the opportunity it gives us to include an image of the curvaceous Kelly Brook.
“The LG Optimus One really is the perfect accessory – not only for its stylish looks but it also has loads of clever features that suit my lifestyle and let me find out just about everything. It allows me to stay in touch with my friends and family on the go, wherever I may be. I love being able to share my photos instantly and having recently joined Twitter the phone is also a great tool for tweeting to my fans.” proclaimed the Kent born model.
Does the endorsement of Kelly Brook tempt you into buying the LG Optimus One or simple offer a sexy addition to a sometimes stoic mobile market? Let us know what you think via the T3 Twitter and Facebook feeds. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Gran Turismo 5 release price just 99p at Blockbuster Posted: 23 Nov 2010 03:51 AM PST GT5 to cost less than £1 at Blockbuster With Gran Turismo 5 set to hit stores across the UK tomorrow following a five years wait, entertainment rental behemoth Blockbuster has upped the price war anti declaring it will offer the long awaited GT5 for as little as 99 pence.
Obviously getting GT5 for 99p is going to come with a catch or two and unsurprisingly that is the case here. Eager gamers looking to snap up the latest addition to the Gran Turismo franchise with change from their pound coin will have to part ways with two of the latest big game releases.

In an attempt to sweeten what seems like a less than tantalising deal, Blockbuster will also give gamers making use of the double trade-in plus 99p deal £10 worth of store credit to use on anything they wish.

Chrome OS out this year, vows Google Posted: 23 Nov 2010 03:02 AM PST Google had pegged new OS for full release by end of 2010. Google remains adamant that Chrome OS will be released in 2010, with the search giant confirming to TechCrunch that the netbook-friendly system will be out by the end of the year as planned.
However, it seems that rather than landing on a series of so-called ChromeBooks, the iOS rival more likely show up as a software beta, ahead of a string of gadgets packing the tech in 2011. When pressed on the matter, Google said, “We’re not getting into details at this point.”
While Google looks set to hit its target of a 2010 release for Chrome OS, there’s no denying that this is a blow, as it had been expected to be up and running and in the wild by now.
When asked about Chrome OS recently, Eric Schmidt said that it should not be seen as an iPad rival. Instead, it should be seen as an OS for products with keyboards, while Android should be viewed as a touchscreen alternative. Whether gadget makers see it that way remains to be seen.
Are you disappointed by the slow movement on Chrome OS? Let us know on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Acer Android tablet unveiling today? Posted: 23 Nov 2010 02:15 AM PST iPad battlers set to get official after being teased earlier this year. Acer is set to finally throw its hat into the tablet ring, with rumours flying that the PC maker will unveil three new slates in New York later today. There’ll be 5-inch, 7-inch and 10-inch models, the latter packing Windows 7 while the other two will rock Android.
Suppliers in Taiwan have suggested Acer has pulled the release of its 7-inch tablet forward in order to lock horns with the iPad and Galaxy Tab before Christmas. It had been expected to come loaded with either Android 2.3 Gingerbread or the even more advanced Android 3.0 Honeycomb.
If that was the case, Acer would probably have had to have held off on releasing its Android slates until CES or even later into 2011. Now though, it’s looking likely we’ll get an official glimpse of their new wares early.
The 7-inch tablet was seen earlier this year being played with by Acer’s CEO on stage at a special event. Whether this device, replete with a QWERTY keyboard, is the same as the one we’ll see later remains to be seen.

Samsung Galaxy Tab: 600,000 sold Posted: 23 Nov 2010 01:08 AM PST Impressive numbers less than a month after launch. Samsung has shifted 600,000 Galaxy Tabs since its launch at the start of November. That’s according to The Korea Herald, which has got the stats straight from Sammy itself.
The number covers the 30 countries worldwide where you can get the Android FroYo-powered tablet, with 30,000 alone sold in South Korea. It all means the tech titan is well on target to hit the million mark in 2010, just like it said it would.
Of course, the iPad continues to slay all comers, with around 7.5 million shifted since it first hit shelves and millions more expected in the run up to Christmas, thanks in no small part to iOS 4.2 giving it a new lease of life.

Posted: 22 Nov 2010 11:59 PM PST Still no word on when the Nexus S will finally come over all official. Samsung’s Google Nexus S has been the star of a string of spy shots and gossip in recent weeks. And now Engadget has laid its hands on yet another snap, which shows the concave design in all its (blurry) glory.
See, the Nexus S has a curved frame, as seen when Google CEO Eric Schmidt showed it off at the Web 2.0 summit recently. The pic clearly shows the smart design trick, although we’ll have to wait for official shots to see just how unique this thing really is.
Specs for the Nexus S remain sparse, but it is known that it’ll land with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which is expected out before Christmas. With iOS 4.2 now out in the wild, don’t expect Google to hang around too long before unleashing it.

Orange and T-Mobile plotting £200 iPad Posted: 22 Nov 2010 11:41 PM PST Subsidised iPad packages primed ahead of Christmas rush. Orange and T-Mobile’s joint venture, Everything Everywhere, is said to be priming the iPad for a major price drop, with the newly anointed network selling the Apple slate for as little as £200.
T-Mobile has confirmed that it will be selling a subsidised iPad, with prices due to land “later this month”. Reports have suggested you’ll be able to nab 2010’s hottest gadget for as little as £200 when you sign up for an 18 month or two year deal.
It all ties in neatly with the six new Everything Everywhere stores that are due to open across the UK before festivities begin in a month’s time.
However, with the iPad 2 just around the corner and the chance to stick a 3G iPad on any network you like when you pay the full price, is this really as good a deal as Everything Everywhere thinks? Let us know whether you’re tempted by a network-backed iPad now on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
